Desktop Shortcuts

Just like Windows OS in Ubuntu Linux we can also create shortcut  of our applications  in Ubuntu Linux this method is a bit different .

    How to add shortcut to Ubuntu workspace(Desktop)
  1. Right click on Desktop >Create Launcher 

  2. Now select type as Application ,Name is the name of your shortcut and then
    click on Browse to browse Your application.
3. Remember that as in windows all of our application when installed  where kept  in C:/Program Files  but in ubuntu installed application where kept in usr/bin.



4. Now click on files system (Drive where Ubuntu is installed) >usr>bin
5. Now select your application to add shortcut to desktop


6. when select your application  click on open .


7. Notice in this pic i select Filzila  and  command line for shortcut is /usr/bin/filezilla . and then click on Ok

8. Finaly  we have filezila shortcut on desktop.







Orcal Virtual Box

This an open source application just like VM ware on windows environment  used to install virtual operating systems . In short if i say  you can run both Microsoft windows and Ubuntu Linux at the same time  and  don't need to restart your PC.
To get virtual box install Microsoft windows in Virtual Box just follow the steps below.
  1. Download Virtual box  Oracle Virtual box
  2. when the download finish make sure your download file is named as virtualbox4.1_4.1.8-75467~Ubuntu~natty_i386.deb
  3. Just simple Double click on it  its installation will be start in Ubuntu software center

Cubic Desktop

Ubuntu  have a cool effect which is named as cube desktop it means that when you  activate this  feature  you can rotate your  desktop in cube like shape. As Ubuntu have four works spaces depends on release of Ubuntu . if we want we can increase no of work space in my video i am using four work spaces. Just follow the simple steps as in video and you will have the amazing  cubic desktop effect .
so lets get start it 
  1. first download a application called Compiz from Ubuntu  software center  e.g open Ubuntu software center located on left side bar of your desktop (depends upon the version of Ubuntu) .
  2. Make sure to download the Highlighted  plug ins too.
  3. watch video slowly  follow every step  to have  cubic desktop
